Characteristics
The copolymer of perfluoropropylvinylether and tetrafluoroethylene is similar in properties to PTFE. amboflon® PFA is free of plasticisers, can be sterilized and is UV- and weather-resistant. Due
to the general physiological harmlessness of the amboflon® PFA, it is possible to issue certificates of harmlessness for the manufacture of food products made from this material in accordance with
Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004. Above the decomposition temperature of 375°C, toxic and caustic gases are formed. Please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet for further processing.
Resistance
The high fluorine content makes amboflon® PFA the thermoplastically processable fluoroplastics with the highest temperature and chemical resistance. amboflon® PFA is resistant to lubricants, oils,
greases, gasoline, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, esters, ketones, caustics, ammonia, amines, acids, ozone, hydrogen peroxide, hot water and water vapor. amboflon® PFA is not
resistant to free alkali metals
Flammability
amboflon® PFA is self-extinguishing and is therefore classified according to UL-94 (DIN EN 60695-11-10) as V-0.
Processing
Process: injection molding, extrusion, coating
Processing temperatures: Extrusion, injection molding: 320 - 420°C (tool 90 - 200°C).
amboflon® PFA can be processed by injection molding, extrusion and coating processes. Cylinder and screw shall be made of high corrosion resistant non-ferrous alloys (nickel molybdenum). The tools
must be hard chrome-plated or nickel-plated. The strength and stiffness can be increased by filling with glass or carbon fiber. For coloring, we recommend our amboflon®-color masterbatch.
